The Knights line runs through coastal Suffolk, traced from James Knights of Carlton Colville in the early nineteenth century to Frederick Charles Knights of Lowestoft, who married Irene May Pickin in 1952. The line passes through Florence Elizabeth Knights, who carried the surname forward as an unmarried mother in 1919. Her son Frederick took her name, and the biological paternity was never documented in surviving records.

Earlier

Irene had previously married Ernest George Frederick Rix in June 1938, when she was eighteen. They had three children together: Edna Rix (1938–2007), a son who is held privately, and Denny Rix (1941–2021), who died in Scotland. Ernest died in January 1942, leaving Irene widowed at twenty-one with three small children. She did not remarry for ten years, until October 1952 when she married Frederick Knights.

The line continues into the living generations, which are held privately. Irene's parents and earlier ancestry are documented on the Pickin line.
